Following the “Trail of Hope” found in His grace and mercy
Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year
Ministry Update December 2018
At this time, we are pleased to announce that Paul DiVincenzo has accepted the position of Chairman of the Board with Smoky Trail. Paul resides in Sault St. Marie with his wife Sue & their 4 daughters. Paul has been an active member of the board and served at North & Mid-North camp for many years. We welcome his years of experience and His great love for the Lord, the children and the Native Bible Camp Ministry.
The most special time of the year is coming quickly. The season when we celebrate the birth of our Creator, Saviour, King, The Chosen One; Jesus Christ.
Seasons come and seasons go. Life is busy and passes quickly. The Holy Scriptures tell us “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
As we look back at 2018, we can see many seasons in the lives of our campers and the other children in the boys and girls groups. We can see much positive spiritual growth and blessings for some, and new challenges and afflictions including illness, abandonment and foster care for others.
We at Smoky Trail feel an urgency to reach out to the children with the Good News of Jesus as their Creator, Saviour and Friend; while they are still young and in the “season” of childhood before the pain, darkness and woes of this world take control of their lives.
As we prepare for the Christmas season there is much work being done in preparation for the 2019 camp season as well. All in God’s time. We trust the promises of the Lord, that He will bring us through. As Christians we face great opposition in this world. (Recruiting volunteers continues to be one of our greatest challenges in this ministry.) Please contact us if you or your group are able to serve in the Lord’s work with Smoky Trail in July 2019. Many hands are needed; the more staff we have at camp, the more campers we are able to invite and share the Good News with. Our greatest needs are cabin counsellors, nurses and 2 certified lifeguards. Smoky Trail 2019 will be held at Camp Endobanah, July 15-20th.
In the words of Jesus “In this world you will have trouble; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Jesus explicitly warned His disciples that rough waters were ahead. He also guaranteed His trustworthiness, affirming that He would guide them toward undeniable triumph and everlasting hope. This is the hope we have been given to share with the children. The promise that God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain. All things will be made new.
As we look ahead to the upcoming seasons of 2019, we look to the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, Eternal. We seek wisdom and guidance from the God of all grace, Immanuel (God with us), to draw the children, camp staff and volunteers to Himself.
Chi-Miigwech (A big thank you) to all of our faithful supporters, prayer warriors and especially our volunteers. May God richly bless you!!!
“Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever.” 2 Chronicles 20:21
