March 2020

Dear Friends,

In the gospel of John, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me… the Spirit of truth dwells with you and is in you… Because I live, you will live also… I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

Being part of the church, the body of Christ, we are called to “Go”, make disciples and the share the Good News with the world.

Smoky Trail 2020 is approaching quickly.  At this time, we are reaching out and asking you to lift the ministry up in prayer to our Heavenly Father.  We ask for His wisdom and provision for S.T. 2020, seeking His will for the ministry.

We are returning to Camp Endobanah in Norland again this year.  The staff arrives Mon. July 13 for set up, with the campers arriving on the 14th around lunch time.  Camp finishes after lunch on Sat. July 18th.  The number of staff will dictate how many campers we can accommodate and share the Good News of Jesus Christ.  The sooner we know about staffing, the sooner we are able to establish our programming, so please let us know if you’re interested in partnering with S.T.

It’s been a long winter for some of the children due to various family issues, including being displaced from their homes due to abandonment and addiction.  Many of the children are looking forward to camp this year.  We’re asking you to also lift up the campers and their families in prayer, please ask for peace, healing, hope and stability in their young lives, for the Lord to make a way for them to come to S.T. camp in 2020 no matter what their situation.

As always there is a long list of staff and volunteers needed to make camp all that it can be.  We’re reaching out for teen speakers, junior and teen cabin leaders, game and activity leaders, craft and literacy helpers, camp nurses, 2 lifeguards and kitchen staff.  Again, if you feel the Holy Spirit calling you to serve this season in any of these areas, or you feel called but you’re not sure where you can help, I guarantee you will not be bored and you will be richly blessed by serving the children.

We ask that staff please let us know asap if you are able to serve this year! The staff and camper forms are ready for you at www.smokytrail.ca.  Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

At this time, we ask you to pray for Shirley Lawrence and her family as they deal with the loss of Dave.  Our beloved brother, mentor and board member went to be with the Lord in Dec.  His wisdom, humility and knowledge will be missed by S.T. and by so many.  We pray for healing and peace for his family until they meet him again in heaven.

We would also ask for prayers for Brandon who leaves for Australia on April 1.  He will be dearly missed at camp this year!  We praise the Lord for the opportunity for him to grow in his walk with the Lord.  He’s a leader with the boy’s clubs and worship team with the Harbour of Hope Fellowship and a huge blessing to S.T.  We pray that Brandon will be richly blessed and we all look forward to his return home this fall.

May the God of peace and the peace of God be with you.

Be Blessed,

James & Rhonda
